Our research process is about discovering what’s important to people. As designers it can be our role to make assumptions about what matters most to people. User research is about testing those assumptions, validating these early thoughts and turning them into something tangible to drive the design process forward.

Working together with our clients we use a variety of research tools to understand what people do, why they do it, what they like, what they think they like. We go inside their lives to discover what makes them tick. We aim to understand people in their entirety, what has meaning to them, what motivates them, not just what they buy and use. This stage of work is a great opportunity to engage project stakeholders with the design team and share a view into their customers lives.

On a practical level we can shadow users, working with them in context, formulate user diaries and surveys, prepare trend forecasts and set up design workshops.
